Ss Peter & Paul, Kettering

What happens next??

When the Church Council (the PCC) received Ptolemy's report on March 2nd, it was excited and impressed, an unanimously voted that we should ask Ptolemy to work with us in a new phase of consultation - which is where we currently find ourselves.

During this period we will be sharing Ptolemy's report and recommendations with the church community as a whole, and with as many members of the wider community in the town, borough and county as are interested. To this end, everyone is warmly invited to a public presentation of this report by Ptolemy in the church at 7.30pm on Tuesday May 17th.

At this meeting the members of the PCC will listen with great interest and take careful note of any comments and observations which are forthcoming.

At the same time as this public phase of consultation is taking place, we will also be consulting with the Diocesan Advisory Committee, which is the committee that makes recommendations to the Chancellor of the Diocese about granting a faculty for works to proceed in a church. In conjunction with consulting the DAC, we will also consult with the various other statutory bodies that have an interest in a building such as Ss Peter & Paul (e.g. English Heritage).

On the basis of our consultation, we will then ask Ptolemy to draw up full architectural plans for the work, with whatever revisions to these initial thoughts seem necessary.

Once we have such plans, we would then begin a major fund-raising campaign to finance the works involved, and, at an appropriate point look to start work in the church...
