Who's who in our church

Running a parish of this size involves a great number of people, some paid, but mostly volunteers. Here are some of the principal names and faces of the team at Ss Peter and Paul:

The Parish Priest is Dominic Barrington. You can learn a little more about Dominic by clicking here!

Dominic is currently on sabbatical leave until the summer.

Robert Hill is a full-time Assistant Priest in the parish, working alongside Dominic. He has a particular responsibility for mission work in the parish focussing on the Slade Valley area. You can learn a little more about Robert by clicking here!

John Smith is our Honorary Curate. A well known doctor in the area prior to his retirement from medicine, John was ordained deacon in the summer of 2006, and assists in the parish on a part-time basis.

Lesley McCormack is an Associate Priest of the parish. Well known to many people in the town as the Senior Chaplain at the General Hospital, Lesley spends one Sunday a month with us normally, and particpates in many weekday activities.

Jane Burns was elected as a churchwarden of the parish in April 2005. She and Paula carry out a huge range of important duties towards the running of the parish.

Paula York was elected as a churchwarden in April 2007. With Jane she shares a responsibility on behalf of the bishop to ensure that the parish is functioning well.

Renee Phipps is a licensed Pastoral Assistant. She works with the clergy in trying to ensure that the pastoral ministry of the parish is as effective as possible, and she has particular responsibility for overseeing our ministry in residential homes and with the housebound.

Adrian Pritchard is a Reader. He preaches at some services in the parish and is an ex officio member of the PCC.

Brian Chapman is our verger and parish clerk. He is responsible for a lot of the day to day running of the church during the week. As well as a ceremonial role during services, he also deals with the administration of banns of marriage and looks after our registers.

Pat Edkins is the Tower Captain. If you are interested in learning to ring bells, she is the person to contact.

Bill Wright is our Director of Music. He runs the Choir, plays the organ, and oversees the musical life of both churches in the parish. If you are interested in joining the Choir he is the person to contact.

Martin Hill is our Head Server, and is also a Deputy Churchwarden. He co-ordinates the servers at Ss Peter & Paul, and generally assists in the running of the parish.
