Oremus | Choral Evensong |
Oremus is a monthly service held on a Sunday night, offering a rather different kind of worship experience to usual church services.
It is designed to offer a brief oasis of calm before the beginning of the working week, and it uses a mixture of contemplative music (including some from Taize) and plainsong, together with silence, to create an atmosphere of prayer and meditation.
The service also offers a chance to pray for healing, as it concludes with the offer of anointing with the Oil for Healing, and a chance to talk with one of the parish clergy on a discreet one-to-one basis in a side chapel.
Oremus is now taking place at St Michael's Church in Garfield Street, and will be happening at 4pm on the following Sunday evenings for the remainder of 2008:
October 12th
November 16th
December 14th
