Linus Alexander Hugh Barrington

Alison, Dominic and Benedict are delighted to announce the safe arrival of Linus Alexander Hugh, born at 10.33am on Tuesday, 17th November, 2009. Mother and baby are doing wonderfully well, and all is contentment and joy in the Rectory!
For those wondering about the choice of names, Linus is mentioned at the end of the Second Letter to Timothy (Do your best to come before winter. Eubulus sends greetings to you, as do Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brothers and sisters.), and is also the name of the first Bishop of Rome (ie first Pope), discounting St Peter.
Alexander was simply a name we felt went well alongside Linus, despite its rather negative reference only a few verses earlier in 2 Timothy (!), and when we were given the date for the elective C Section by which Linus was born, we felt it would be rather fitting to add the name Hugh, whom the Church of England commemorates on November 17th. Hugh was Bishop of Lincoln in the late 12th Century, and you can read more about him here!
He was baptized by our friend the Right Revd John Pritchard, Bishop of Oxford, on Sunday April 11th 2010.
