John Smith’s Ordination | Mum and daughter baptized by bishop | Seaside Rock | Shocking Crib Scene | Critical Mass at St Michael’s | Baptisms Galore | Children admitted to Holy Communion | Rectory Baby |
After presentations on the subject during the summer, and a very positive vote by the Church Council, the parish has adopted the policy of admitting children to receive Communion without the need for them to be confirmed first.
To prepare the majority of the parish children for this great event, we held a number of events, culminating in a wonderful morning at St Michael's, when Nina Saint, a professional children's worker from a parish in London, led seventy children through a number of activities that helped them understand that they belonged to God's church just as much as everyone else.
The following morning, on the Feast of Christ the King, these children were duly admitted to Communion, and now in the parish we all come as equals to Christ's Table. If you would like to know more about how we understand the Eucharist (or Holy Communion), click here to read our policy statement.
At both churches the altars were decorated with frontals made by our newest communicants!
